Are the Scheduled Maintenances Really Required for My Chevrolet?

Every car requires certain adjustments, services and repairs on a routine basis. Ignoring the schedule for your Lynnwood Chevrolet Services can not only void your warranty, it can lead to premature wear on components. Carson Car’s qualified technicians can perform these scheduled services for less than what your dealer may charge.

Timing Belts

Timing belts maintain the rhythm between the cams and the crankshaft. By not replacing timing belts, your car could suffer catastrophic damage and wind up costing you at least three times as much in repairs to a damaged engine.

Oil Changes

Oil should be changed every 3,000-5,000 miles, depending on make and model. Check manufacturer’s suggested rate of change for your car. Because oil oxidizes and breaks down over time, it is necessary to replace the fluid to protect your car’s engine. Severe starts, such as; use of air conditioner, continual stop and go driving, and cold starts, may require the oil to be changed more frequently. il changes will prevent breakdowns and catastrophic failure to your car’s engine.

Brakes

Brakes must be repaired/replaced on every vehicle, frequency depends on the type of driving you do. If you do a lot of stop and go driving or ride your brakes, they will need to be serviced more often than if you do primarily highway driving. In addition to maintaining your car’s safety, by performing routine maintenance on brake pads, you will avoid costly repair/replacement of full brake system.

Transmission Fluid Replacement

By replacing your transmission fluid about every 30,000 miles, your car will shift more smoothly, eliminate chattering and slipping and will provide cooler operation. By reconditioning the seals as well, you can extend the transmission life.

Power Steering Fluid Replacement

Replacing the power steering fluid every 18,000-24,000 miles will alleviate steering pump squeal. Additionally, your steering will not be erratic or difficult with regular fluid replacement. The fluid replacement:

  • Cleans varnish and gum residue from the power steering unit
  • Removes old oxidized fluid
  • Replaces old fluid with new fluid
  • Recondition seals

Coolant Replacement

The regular service interval for coolant replacement is about every 30,000 miles. Replacing the fluid extends radiator, hoses, water pump, heater core and thermostat life. Fluid replacement on a routine basis also reduces the operating temperature of the cooling system, automatic transmission and air conditioner. The process removes rust, scale and sludge from the cooling system.

Fuel Induction Service

A fuel induction service cleans the entire fuel system — from tank to exhaust. The service increases fuel efficiency, eliminates rough idle and hard starting.

As you can see, regular maintenance on your Chevrolet will extend the life of your car. Check your car’s Owner’s Manual for recommended service frequency of each system.  Carson cars has qualified technicians to perform every routine maintenance on your Chevy in Everett, Lynnwood, Mukilteo & Snohomish.
